Get Out In Front Of Fall

Nov 06, 2017

Fall… A wonderful season. Cooler weather, gatherings, and pie… lots of pie. Fall is one of my favorite seasons. It leads right into winter and before you know it the new year rolls around. It can be such a fun time to spend with family and friends, but for many of us it can destroy our eating routine. For some of us, social eating is a challenge and this time of year starts the vicious cycle of compromise. We get so overwhelmed by all of the great food and lose control of our eating habits that we worked so hard to establish all year long. So instead of giving up and letting ourselves go, what can we do? We can get out in front of fall!

Firstly, we must prepare our minds. If we go into fall already defeated then we will most definitely fail, but if we go in with a mindset of victory then we will be able to overcome every single party and holiday. We must have our mind renewed. We don’t have to only just survive this season, we can thrive! God did not create us to just be up and down all of our life… He created us to go from glory to glory in every single season. Be encouraged. He has called us to steward our bodies and He will most certainly give us all the grace to do just that.

We must think about what we have worked for all year long. Many people ruin what they have been so disciplined to stick with all year. By splurging in the fall and winter months not only do we not get better, we fall back into old habits. I don’t know about you but I hate falling back into what I have been delivered from. Personally, I have been delivered from an addiction to food and the thought of falling back into that makes me angry. I do not want to let a season pull me back into the things that I once struggled with. Neither should you. God desires to help us to continue in the good things that we have established. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says “where the spirit of the lord is there is freedom”, this is the verse before the cornerstone verse I have built my company on (Corinthians 3:18). Without the spirit of the Lord we will never have freedom, and without freedom we can never go from glory to glory.

Thirdly, don’t make excuses that lead to procrastination. People often tell themselves that they will start eating right and exercising after the new year just to make themselves feel better in the moment. If you put your health on the back burner then you will never start. There is no better time to start stewarding and taking care of your body then now. Don’t listen to the lie that tells you that you will have time later. The truth is that you don’t know that for sure. Life only gets busier and there is only more responsibility as we get older. I love that about life, but if we don’t start now getting into a routine and changing our lifestyle then the chances of you actually making a change gets smaller and smaller every year. New Years resolutions hardly ever work, and are almost never sustainable. Make changes now that are doable. If the changes that we make now are doable, then they will be sustainable all of our lives. Don’t wait!By changing our mindset and our perspectives we can overcome the challenge of the holiday season. We were made to thrive. My desire is to lead people to live lives that lead to THRIVING. This is the foundation of what I do. “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the spirit of the lord” 2 Corinthians 3:18. God wants to empower you to get out in front of fall, it’s the glory to glory way of living.
